When you add a domain name as hosted in some account, you typically set a pair of Name Servers to direct it to that specific company. On their end, 3 records are set up automatically right after the domain name is added - one A record and two MX records. The former is a numeric address, or IP address, which “tells” the Internet domain where its site is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they indicate the server that handles the e-mails for that particular Internet domain. The website and the email hosting are typically considered to be one thing, when they are in reality two different services. Having different records for them will permit you to have them with different companies if you'd like. For instance, some new service provider can have fantastic uptime for your site, but you may not want to switch your e-mails from your current host and by using an A record to point the Internet domain to the former and MX records to have the emails with the second, you can get the best of both providers. These records are checked whenever you want to open a website or send an email - in any case, the company whose name servers are used for the domain address is going to be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you have set records different from their own, the correct web/mail server will then be contacted and you will see the needed site or your e-mail will be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Hosting

With a cloud hosting plan from our company, you're going to be able to set up or modify the A and MX records of your domains and subdomains effortlessly by using our innovative Hepsia hosting Control Panel. Changing the default records takes two clicks and the creation of a new record requires just a few more clicks, so even though you may have never dealt with such matters, you won't encounter any complications. We have an extensive help section that will make things even easier. If you wish to change your email provider and you have to set up a number of MX records in addition to the default two, you can select their priority i.e. which record will manage your e-mails first when someone sends you a message. Usually the new provider is going to tell you what these values need to be. With our shared plans, you will have total control of your domain names and subdomains and you'll be able to handle their A and MX records easily and at any time.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting CP, included with our semi-dedicated hosting plans, will permit you to view the A and MX records for every one of the domains or subdomains in your account and if required, to change any of them or create new ones. Controlling these records is incredibly easy since all domains/subdomains will be listed alphabetically, so editing a record is as simple as entering it in a box and saving the change. Creating a new one takes only a few more clicks and if you experience any difficulties, you can check out our instructional videos on how to set up A and MX records. Our system is user-friendly enough to be used by people with little or no previous experience, yet sophisticated enough to offer you full control over all records and to allow you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you are switching your emails to a different provider and they ask you to set up more than two different MX records, you can select the priority of each one.
